What’s on the worksheet
1 · Materials per candle — a row each for wax, fragrance oil, wick, vessel, label and packaging, and dye or other extras. Cost per candle = price paid ÷ amount bought × amount used. Include the shipping you paid.
2 · True product cost — materials, plus labor (your hourly rate × batch minutes ÷ 60 ÷ candles in the batch), waste and overhead.
3 · Your price and what you keep — your selling price (cost × the multiplier you pick, or your own price), your channel fees, any event cost per candle, then your profit and margin.
Why true cost comes first
Labor and selling fees are the easiest costs to leave out, and they are why a price that feels fine can still lose money. Work out what one candle really costs you before you choose a price.
The worksheet has no built-in prices or fees: every number is yours, from your own receipts and your own platform or card reader. The free Candle Cost & Pricing calculator does the same math for you.
Common questions
How do I work out the cost of one candle?
For each material, divide what you paid by the amount you bought, then multiply by the amount one candle uses. Add labor, waste and overhead for your true product cost.
How do I include my time?
Multiply your hourly rate by the minutes the batch takes, divide by 60, then divide by the number of candles in the batch.
How should I price my candles?
Start from your true product cost and pick a multiplier or your own price. Then subtract your selling fees and event costs to see what you really keep. The pricing guide explains the choices.
What is the difference between profit and margin?
Profit is what you keep from one candle in dollars. Margin is that profit as a percent of the selling price.
