What the card tells your customer

Use the melt in a wax warmer — never light a melt with a flame. Follow the warmer maker’s directions, never leave a warmer running unattended, and keep the warmer and the hot wax out of reach of children and pets. When the scent fades, take out the used wax and add a fresh melt.

Before the melts go out

Published advice on rest time differs. One supplier’s clamshell recipe only says to let melts cool overnight before closing them; the same supplier suggests letting soy melts rest one to two weeks for the best scent. Smell a few at different ages to learn what your own wax needs before you sell.

Put your label on the clamshell or bag, and tuck a card in with each order so the buyer knows how to use them safely. Write the scent on the line at the bottom of each card.

Why melts need their own card

Wax melts (also called tarts) are small pieces of scented wax with no wick. A warmer melts them slowly so the fragrance fills the room. A candle care card talks about wicks and burn times; a melt card talks about the warmer. The wax melts guide covers making and selling them.
