What the card tells your customer

First burn: let the wax melt all the way to the edge — about one hour for every inch across. Burn no more than four hours at a time, and trim the wick to ¼ inch before every burn. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from drafts and at least 12 inches from anything that can burn, keep it out of reach of children and pets, and stop when ½ inch of wax remains.

Two lines are just for soy: a white, frosty look on soy wax is natural and doesn’t change how the candle burns or smells, and the candle is best stored out of direct sun, somewhere the temperature stays steady.

Why the first burn matters

The National Candle Association explains that if a candle is not burned long enough for the wax to melt from edge to edge, it can form a memory ring and keep tunneling. Your customer decides how that first burn goes, so the card says it plainly. More in the tunneling guide.

Fill in the blanks

Each card has a line for the scent and one for the burn time — write the burn time from your own burn tests, never a guess.

Common questions

How long should the first burn of a soy candle be?

Long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edge — about one hour for every inch of the candle’s width — and never more than four hours at a time.

Why is my soy candle white and frosty?

That frosty look is a natural trait of soy wax. It is cosmetic and doesn’t change how the candle burns or smells.

How short should a candle wick be trimmed?

To ¼ inch before every burn.

When should you stop burning a candle?

When ½ inch of wax remains in the container.

Are there care cards for coconut wax and wax melts?

Yes — coconut wax and wax melts behave differently, so each has its own card.
